Newcastle University – Henry Daysh Building

Newcastle University - Henry Daysh Building

A core building, part of Newcastle University, renamed from Claremont Tower after Henry Daysh , the former head of the Department of Geography, has been extensively refurbished. The complex spaces include large auditoriums, communal areas and offices across multiple floors.

The impactful lighting design creates light and airy spaces in an externally utilitarian 1960s building using a range of Hacel luminaires. Recessed and pendant Infinitas linear systems create depth with design consistency while SkyMod modules delivers homogenous, glare-free lighting, enhancing the productivity of classrooms.

Hacel’s innovative technology delivers high efficiency, high quality illumination with operating life expectancies over 50,000 hours, creating low-carbon educational spaces for the 21st century.
